Comic Relief - Red Nose Day 2009

CALL CONNECTION THROWS A LINE FOR COMIC RELIEF! Volunteers from Call Connection in Ipswich donated their services to help staff on the official donation line for Red Nose Day '09! The team made up from staff, friends and family were working as volunteers taking calls throughout the live TV extravaganza on BBC One, hosted by some of the biggest names in TV, including Davina McCall and David Tennant. As well as handling much needed calls on the night, volunteers were showing their own support for Red Nose Day by Wearing Something Funny for Money. They were sponsored to wear ridiculous outfits and accessories for cash, auctioning off favours with a 'Donation Of Promises' auction, and gorging on home made food stalls which were stocked up all day. Call Connection rolled out the red carpet for Comic Relief 2009 and for the 4th year running Connection turned into party-central. The obligatory fancy dress started the day off with a ‘home cooked’ food stall, an auction of promises that included Spanish, Italian, Braille, Sailing and DJ lessons and the raffle, where the prizes included signed football memorabilia and a year’s full gym membership. We raised over £2800 for Comic Relief through these events and over £90,000 in donations over the phone. The free burger van and drink provided (with waitress service), face painting, games consoles, sketch show and music we had running through the night helped contribute to the atmosphere for all of the staff, their family and friends who helped take the calls. Great night, again!
